A new inground pool is a permitted construction project. A licensed pool builder designs it, pulls the permit, and builds it under their own license. This page is a referral, not an offer to build one.
What this page covers
Swimming pool installation in Temecula, for a new inground pool in gunite or concrete. The builder's written price is the offer. Figures below are contractor estimates for planning.
The City of Temecula requires a permit for pools, spas, and hot tubs. Ask who pulls it, and ask that it be in the builder's name. Rules are different in Murrieta and in French Valley. The full write-up is the permit guide.
Before you compare prices, read how to check the license. California requires the license number on the builder's advertising, and the person who sells the contract needs a home improvement salesperson registration.
What contractors publish for cost and time
Two contractor pages are the price sources. No city price survey was found.
Premier Pools and Spas' Temecula page says a pool alone starts around $60,000, and that the job takes 4 to 5 months in total.
Bogner Pools' 2026 Inland Empire guide, for Riverside and the Inland Empire and not a Temecula-only survey, says a straightforward custom pool runs $60,000 to $80,000, and that most custom pools take about 12 to 16 weeks.
Read together, those estimates support about $60,000 to $120,000 for most new inground pools in the Temecula area, before extras. A spa, rock, or a retaining wall adds more. The schedules do not match: 4 to 5 months on one page, about 12 to 16 weeks on the other. Use the cost guide for the spa, rock, and wall figures, and ask the builder who prices your job which clock they mean.
Questions worth asking before you sign:
- Is the price for gunite or concrete, and what is included?
- Who pulls the Temecula permit, and in whose name?
- What happens to the price if the builder hits rock?
- Is a spa, a retaining wall, or a heat source included?
Inground pool questions
Is the $60,000 to $120,000 range your price?
No. It summarizes two contractor estimates, one from a Temecula builder page and one from a 2026 Inland Empire guide. It is not an offer. The builder you hire writes the price.
How long does construction take?
The Temecula contractor page says 4 to 5 months total. The Inland Empire guide says about 12 to 16 weeks for most custom pools. Ask the builder which parts of the job that includes.
Who pulls the permit?
Temecula requires a permit for a pool. A licensed pool builder should pull it. This site does not pull permits and does not do the work.
