Pool resurfacing cost in Temecula
This site has no sourced Temecula price for pool resurfacing. Here are published national cost ranges by finish instead, clearly not quotes for your pool, plus what changes the price and the permit question for this area.
National cost ranges by finish
Two published cost guides, HomeGuide and Angi, price pool resurfacing by finish type. Their numbers are national, not Temecula quotes, and the two do not fully agree, which is itself a reason to get a written price rather than trust either range on its own.
HomeGuide's figures (for a benchmark 1,000 square foot pool): paint, $1 to $2 per square foot ($1,000 to $2,000 total); plaster or marcite, $6 to $8 per square foot ($6,000 to $8,000); quartz plaster, $7 to $10 per square foot ($7,000 to $10,000); pebble, $7 to $15 per square foot ($7,000 to $15,000); tile, $8 to $30 or more per square foot ($8,000 to $30,000 or more).
Angi's figures are lower at the low end: paint around $1 per square foot, plaster around $4, aggregate or pebble around $10, and tile around $25, reaching $35 or more for high end tile. Angi also puts the overall average resurfacing job, for a 1,000 square foot pool, at about $11,000, with most homeowners paying $6,000 to $15,000.
Pebble Tec is a specific branded pebble finish product, not the generic "pebble" category these ranges price. Neither guide breaks out a Pebble Tec specific number, so do not treat the pebble range above as a Pebble Tec quote.

What changes the price
HomeGuide lists several things that move a resurfacing price beyond the finish itself: the pool's size (more surface area means more material and labor), what the pool shell is made of (vinyl, fiberglass, and concrete pools do not resurface the same way or cost the same to resurface), custom touches like decorative tile inserts or pigmented plaster, and whether cracks or leaks need fixing first, since resurfacing over an unrepaired crack lets it spread into the new finish. Draining and cleaning the pool before work (HomeGuide puts this around $600 to $650) and refilling it after (roughly $40 to $2,000, mostly driven by local water cost and pool size) are often priced as separate line items on top of the resurfacing number itself.
The permit question here
Temecula requires a permit for pools, spas, and hot tubs under its own page, which does not say whether every resurfacing job needs its own permit. Ask the builder to confirm that with the city before work starts.
Murrieta's permit exemption only covers a small, prefabricated, above ground pool, which a resurfacing job on an existing inground pool never fits, so plan on a Murrieta permit for that work. In unincorporated French Valley, pool work goes through Riverside County; the county's barrier letter is about the barrier itself, not about plaster or pebble finish, so it only matters here if the remodel also touches the barrier. See pool remodeling and resurfacing for the fuller permit breakdown by city, and the cost guide for a new pool if you are pricing new construction instead of a resurface.
Resurfacing cost questions
What does pool plaster cost in Temecula?
No source for this site prices plaster in Temecula specifically. HomeGuide and Angi, two national cost guides, put plaster resurfacing at roughly $4 to $8 per square foot. Get a written price from a licensed pool builder for your pool.
Is Pebble Tec more expensive than a regular pebble finish?
No source used on this site breaks out a Pebble Tec specific price. The national pebble ranges above (roughly $7 to $15 per square foot) are for pebble finishes generally, not that one brand.
Does resurfacing cost less than a new pool?
Usually, since it is work on a shell you already have rather than new construction, but this site has no sourced Temecula number for either job to compare directly. See the new-pool ranges in the cost guide, and ask a licensed pool builder for a written resurfacing price.
Does resurfacing need its own permit?
Temecula requires a permit for pools, spas, and hot tubs, and does not say whether every resurfacing job needs its own permit. Confirm with the builder before work starts rather than assuming either way.
