Hillside, rock, and retaining wall pools in Temecula

If the lot needs a wall, or the excavation hits rock, the price moves. These add-on ranges come from one Temecula contractor page, not from a city survey.

Rock, walls, and a heat source

Premier Pools and Spas' Temecula page says rock is hit on 30% to 40% of jobs, from about $4,000. It lists retaining walls at $4,000 to $15,000. Premier prices the $5,000 to $10,000 heat source for a pool and spa combo, and attributes that to California's newer gas heater rules. That figure is not a price for every pool.

Those are that contractor's figures for its own work. They are not a Temecula average, and they are not an offer from this site. Bogner Pools' Inland Empire guide does not break out rock or walls. The base pool ranges are on the cost guide and the inground pool page.

Ask the builder, in writing:

  • Is rock excavation included, and what is added if they hit it?
  • Is a retaining wall included, and at what size?
  • Is the secondary heat source included?

The longer version of these questions is the slopes and rock guide.

This site does not claim Temecula lots are all hillside or all rock. It only repeats what that contractor page reports about its jobs. Your lot is the one that matters, and the builder has to see it.

Permits still depend on where the lot sits: Temecula, Murrieta, or French Valley.

Slope and rock questions

Will my lot hit rock?

This site cannot know that. One Temecula contractor page says rock is hit on 30% to 40% of its jobs, from about $4,000. Ask the builder how your contract treats rock.

Do I have to add a heat source?

Premier prices the $5,000 to $10,000 heat source for a pool and spa combo, and attributes that to California's newer gas heater rules. That is their statement, not a city ordinance quoted here, and it is not a price for every pool. Ask the builder and the permit office.
